After a huge year that saw The Hacker & Gesaffelstein’s ZONE Records release acclaimed EPs from artists like Arnaud Rebotini, Remote and Djedjotronic, the label kicks off 2014 with a new three track EP from one of France’s most exciting producers, Maelstrom.

Hailing from an ancient French harbour city, Maelstrom grew up in Techno filled dark and grimy warehouses. Now he spends his days shuttered in darkness, working on his own music and his nights at clubs, raves and festivals passing that music on, inspiring another generation.

With releases to his credit on labels such as Boys Noize, Sound Pellegrino and Dirtybird, not to mention three acclaimed releases on ZONE over the past 18 months Joan-Mael’s remixes and original productions represent a perfect synthesis of past and future, Detroit, France and beyond.

Now returning to ZONE Maelstrom picks up where he left off with the stark and dissonant 'Discord' EP. Three tracks that range from pulsing apocalyptic Acid to pipe banging Techno and Cybertronian Electro-Funk - it’s cold, remorseless yet brutally funky and sure to cement his position as one of Europe’s leading underground producers.
